Uganda's Engagement with the East Africa Business Network in Irving, TX

Building Bridges

During a vibrant and energetically charged meeting in the city of Irving, the atmosphere was abuzz with the spirit of collaboration and promise. This gathering, timed to coincide with the bustling US-Africa Summit in nearby Dallas, TX, brought together distinguished guests including the esteemed Robie Kakonge, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to the United States.

A Confluence of Minds and Missions

The event was not just a meet-and-greet but a fertile ground for nurturing substantial ties between the Uganda embassy and the East Africa Business Network. Ambassador Kakonge and Chairwoman, Elsa Juko-McDowell spoke to the importance Uganda places on its international partnerships, particularly with the diaspora community and business networks abroad.

During their interactions, Ambassador Kakonge expressed a keen interest in the initiatives spearheaded by the EABN, emphasizing her commitment to supporting the endeavors. Her discussions with members of the North Texas District Export Council and representatives from the Economic Development department highlighted her proactive approach to fostering trade and investment opportunities between Uganda and the United States.

Fruitful Discussions for Future Collaborations

The ambassador specifically inquired about ways she could support the EABN's initiatives, signaling a proactive desire to contribute constructively to the network's objectives. This gesture of solidarity and support promises to bring a delegation from Uganda, creating dialogue for new business opportunities and cultural exchanges. The meeting was a positive dialogue regarding the participation of Ugandan delegates in the EABN upcoming conference in October 2024.

A Lasting Impact and the Road Ahead

The meeting concluded on a high note, with renewed enthusiasm and a collective commitment to capitalize on the momentum gained. The insights and connections forged during such meetings and events push toward realizing the shared goal of economic growth and community empowerment of the diaspora community.

The Tukole Foundation is immensely grateful for Ambassador Kakonge's willingness to engage and support, and we are optimistic about the potential impacts of this strengthened partnership with the EABN. The East Africa Business Network remains dedicated to advancing our mission and enriching our community through meaningful collaborations.
