2024 Summer Jobs and Internship Program now open
TUKOLE through its international and diaspora student office wishes to help bridge the gap between the educational needs and financial constraints of the students in our community. The summer jobs program is an initiative to advance the student’s economic and career prospects while reducing the financial burden.
Solutions for Returning Migrant Workers
The issue of migrant workers from East Africa facing harsh conditions in the Middle East largely stems from systemic problems in the labor migration process, notably the kafala (sponsorship) system. Women, who make up a significant portion of domestic workers in the region, are particularly vulnerable to abuses in the system, which include physical and sexual violence, withholding of wages, and extremely poor living conditions.

Navigating the 24/25 FAFSA changes: What Students and Families Need to Know
The 2024-25 FAFSA process introduces significant changes designed to simplify the application and expand access to federal student aid. Key updates include a streamlined form reduced from 108 to 36 questions, expanded Pell Grant eligibility for low-income students, and changes in income reporting rules. Additionally, the student aid index can now be negative, providing more accurate assessments of financial need. The form will be available by December 31, 2023, instead of October 1.
